Why Private Practice Dental Hygienists?
In 2006 the legislation governing dental hygienists in Alberta changed, allowing us to open our own businesses. We are members of and registered with the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta, the governing body for our profession in Alberta. The new Dental Hygienists Profession Regulation can be viewed on the College’s website at www.crdha.ca We also are members of the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association. www.cdha.ca

Be part of a federal government pilot program that is about
access to care for every individual.
Under the program, clients who are registered with Health Canada for eligible benefits are able to see dental hygienists for care throughout the pilot period.

An Association of Oral Health Professionals:
We are a not for profit association promoting optimal oral health through private practice dental hygienists. Our members include storefront offices and mobile dental units, allowing greater and faster access to oral health care for the public. We are your oral hygiene caregiver, an important member of your interdisciplinary health team. We exist to promote increased access to and awareness of oral health care for the public. What we do:
Today there are many studies showing direct links between oral disease and overall health. Heart disease, stroke, diabetes, respiratory disease and pre-term, low birth weights are just some of the health issues related to poor oral health. Dental hygienists play a crucial role in maintaining good oral health and ultimately optimal well being. We can provide you with a variety of services including, dental cleanings, oral cancer screenings, check-ups, x-rays, tooth whitening, service to senior citizens in home care facilities, tobacco cessation support and many other services. We service clients from Alberta health card programs, seniors’ benefits, immigrant services, AISH and Indian Affairs.
